BACKGROUNDThe Leaside Industrial Park Association is an organization which originally was founded over 40 years ago to address the mutual interests of the industrial businesses in the area. The association was inactive for a number of years until around 1970 when it was reformed to fight proposed rezoning in the area. In 1986 the association was formally incorporated as a not for profit corporation. Over the years the association was involved in many issues. Their mandate was to ensure that any change occurred for the betterment of the area or, at least, not to the detriment of our members. The Leaside Industrial Park Association had two members on the Mayor's Task Force discussing the Bramalea proposal. We were able to get concessions for improved water supply to the area, height restrictions on the project, and guarantees of no negative impact on other utilities. The one area we are still working on is traffic impacts which is still being negotiated.
