A Time for ChangeThis year’s municipal elections are your chance to vote for change! The city has been stagnating in its infrastructure development. The roads, the water and sewers, buildings and public transit require major investments now. We need a council that, in its decision-making, considers the city as a whole, not just individual wards. The new mayor has to show leadership and have a vision for the future. He or she has to be prepared to negotiate with the other levels of government to realize the full potential of this city. The Leaside Business Park has now been designated an employment area in Toronto’s new Official Plan. It is up to us ALL to encourage employment growth and retention by promoting the Leaside Business Park as a good place to do business in. To this end a Marketing Committee has been established as a subcommittee to the LERI committee. The board of directors has dealt with several changes since the last newsletter. After meetings with city staff and representatives of the Leaside Property Owners Association (Leri Committee), the board has come to an agreement on the first phase of the Leaside Business Park Revitalization Plan. The first phase will include the installation of distinctive signs at four major gateways to the Park and appropriate landscaping. As future city budgets are approved, phases two and three will be completed. I personally would like to thank my fellow directors, city staff, councillor Jane Pitfield and the LPOA for their work and co-operation. The new newsletter will be published on our new website, which will be up and running by the end of September.
