IMPORTANT NEWS BRIEF (2005-02-09)

The city is undertaking an initiative to amalgamate the by-laws of the former boroughs and cities into one consistent set of by-laws. These by-laws are required for the implementation of Toronto’s plan. This initiative will take approximately two years to complete. The first stage requires the agreement on the definitions of establishments. The proposed definitions can be found on www.toronto.ca/city_initiatives.

The city has decided that only stake holder groups will be able to make comments regarding this process. Leaside Business Park Association is one of these stake holders. Therefore, once you have looked at the definition which applies to your business and would like to make comments or changes please e-mail the association at jean@leasidebusinesspark.com The commenting period for industrial establishments ends February 27, 2005 and for commercial establishments the period ends March 14, 2005.

Once these definitions are accepted they will become the basis for planning and zoning and could affect your business use in the future. One of the pitfalls which has become evident is that the definitions are not precise. Again, if you have any questions e-mail the office.
